About NordicExpat
NordicExpat exists because the practical information expats need in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belgium is scattered across dozens of official government sites — much of it in Danish, Swedish or French — while the English-language resources online are often out of date, vague, or missing the specifics that actually matter when you are standing at a counter with the wrong form.
So we set out to build the reference we wished existed: one place that walks through each process as it actually works — which office you go to, which documents you need, what the fees and deadlines are, and where it commonly goes wrong.
Who writes NordicExpat
The guides are researched, written and maintained by Bikram Nath, the editor of NordicExpat. Every guide is compiled and cross-checked against official primary sources — national tax authorities, immigration offices, healthcare portals and municipal websites — rather than rewritten from other blogs. We are not a government service and not affiliated with any authority; where a rule depends on your exact situation, we point you to the official source so you can confirm it for yourself.
How we keep guides accurate
Nordic and Belgian regulations change: tax thresholds are re-indexed each year, fees are updated, and processing times shift. Each guide carries a “last verified” date and links to the official sources it is built from, and we review guides when those sources change. If you spot something out of date, email us — we correct it quickly.

These include money tools (Wise, Revolut), accommodation (Booking.com, via the Travelpayouts network) and travel insurance (SafetyWing) — the services expats and travellers across the Nordics actually use.
